The United States is the only country that has ZERO guaranteed vacation days
The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) has updated their study of paid vacation and holiday time in developed countries around the world. The United States is the only country in the group that does not require employers to provide paid vacation time.
Fun facts:
•1 in 4 private-sector workers in the US do not receive any paid vacation or paid holidays
•28 million Americans don’t get a vacation
•The average paid vacation + paid holidays provided to U.S. workers in the private sector is less than the minimum required by law in nearly every other rich country
•Only 69% of low wage workers have vacation
•Only 36% of part time workers have any paid vacation
Has it become apparent yet to my fellow Americans that we are getting screwed here? The Corporate Oligarchy and their conservative boot lickers constantly try to keep people poor, hungry, and desperate because they know that’s the key to forcing people to work longer, harder, and faster for less.
Corporate profits are at an all time high. Productivity of workers is at record highs. Wages for the vast majority of Americans have fallen. The Republicans are literally trying to kill the last remnants of unions, end Over-Time pay, outsource more jobs, and deregulate even further in an attack on working folks.

As Walmart workers this week resume strikes at stores around the nation, organizers are saying that more employees than ever have joined the ranks of the activists, with some experts going so far as to say that the movement has achieved critical mass. According to OUR Walmart, the union-backed group behind the strikes, the number of workers who have joined the effort has increased by one-fourth in the last year.Signal boost?!
